American heroes on track: Kenny Leroy Roberts won three consecutive FIM 500cc Grand Prix world titles in 1978, ’79, and ’80 with Yamaha. Twenty years later, Kenny Lee Roberts, affectionately known as “Junior,” earned a premier-class title of his own on a Suzuki.

At noon on Friday, Roberts, riding his 1980 Yamaha 0W48, and Roberts Jr., aboard the Honda-powered Team Roberts KR211V that carried him to sixth overall in the 2006 MotoGP world championship, will lap the Barber Motorsports Park road course.

Final preparations are underway for this weekend’s 20th annual Barber Vintage Festival. Grand Marshal Eraldo Ferracci’s legendary handiwork will be visible throughout the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, as well as the entire Barber Motorsports Park.

Here, the Ducati 750 Sport that carried Stephen Mathews to the 1991 AMA Pro Twins GP2 title is joined by Mathew’s championship-winning Barber’s Dairy 888 Corsa and the MV Agusta F4 1000 R raced by Matt Lynn in the 2007 AMA Superbike series.

On Saturday, October 4, at 11 a.m., the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum will honor Eraldo Ferracci, the grand marshal of the 20th annual Barber Vintage Festival, with a parade of Fast By Ferracci race bikes on the Barber Motorsports Park road course.

Restoration expert Chuck Huneycutt will lead the way on the Fast By Ferracci Ducati 750 Sport that carried Stephen Mathews to the 1991 AMA Pro Twins GP2 title. That machine is part of the museum’s permanent collection.

1989 AMA Superbike Champion Jamie James is expected to ride the Fast By Ferracci Ducati 955 that Canadian Pascal Picotte raced to fourth overall in the 1994 AMA Superbike series, with victories at Laguna Seca and Road America.

James will be joined by Stefano Mesa, aboard a Ducati Supermono raced by the late Robert Holden to second in class at the 1994 Isle of Man TT. The Supermono was designed by the museum’s very own Pierre Terblanche. Only 67 were produced.

Finally, Josh Herrin is dusting off the Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati V4 R that he rode to victory in the 2024 MotoAmerica Superbike series. At the conclusion of the parade laps, there will be an autograph session in parc fermé. Come one, come all.

We have an exciting weekend ahead. Over the course of two days, Friday, October 3, and Saturday, October 4, in conjunction with the 20th annual Barber Vintage Festival, the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum has planned a series of seminars ranging in subject matter from competing and winning at the pinnacle of motorcycle road racing to the often-unseen challenges of vehicle conservation.

A rich medley of distinguished designers, restoration experts, decorated writers, and championship-winning motorcycle racers will all be under one roof. In alphabetical order, the esteemed guests and respected moderators are as follows: Kevin Cameron, Ally Domar, Peter Egan, Eraldo Ferracci, Ultan Guilfoyle, Matthew Miles, Cook Neilson, Kenny Roberts, Kenny Roberts Jr., and Pierre Terblanche.
